It has been a long summer but we are back on the road again!
Between the extreme Texas heat, busy work schedules and events we really haven’t been able to ride much since getting back from our trip in June. I was beginning to think I would never get to ride again!
Since Scott’s work scheduled changed a few weeks ago, giving him weekends off again, I have been stocking the weather channel. Finally, its below 100 and we have time to ride! Skills day was Saturday so we attended that and then took off to grab some lunch in Granbury, TX. Once lunch was done we decided to take the long way home. That somehow turned into the REALLY long way home with a stop at Loco Coyote for some drinks to cool off since the temp was nearing 90. We ended up making it home around dark.
We woke up early Sunday morning to meet up with some friends for another full day of riding. Our destination was Doc’s in Muenster, TX. The ride to Muenster is one of my favorite “long rides”. The scenery is perfect and the roads are seldom busy. You pass through the wind turbines and in one spot can get really close to them. Watching them spin is almost hypnotic.
After leaving Muenster we stopped on the Taovayas Memorial bridge. Despite all the rain we had in teh spring the river was actually very low.
At our last gas stop Scott mentioned it was getting close to dinner and wanted to know what we thought about stopping in Godly at Taco Del Notre. He knows it is one of my favorites spots to eat on the way home and Steve and Angie had been wanting to try it so it took little effort to convince us all we needed to stop.
We spent an hour or so talking and eating before parting ways and heading home. It was without a doubt one of those days that you don’t want to end.
